The History of Geisha Makeup
A geisha is a female, professional Japanese entertainer and hostess. It's believed that geishas started wearing white face makeup to establish themselves in society. In China, a white face was a sign of nobility and wealth. Some historians believe that geishas started wearing white because the beautiful women in the west had white faces.
Applying The Makeup
Applying geisha makeup isn't terribly difficult, but it does take a bit of practice. Before you touch any makeup to your face, you need to clean your face, dry your face and apply a face moisturizer. The moisturizer will help protect your skin from the makeup that geishas put on their face. This makeup can dry out your face. A moisturizer prevents some of this.
Next, you're going to need to apply a white foundation or cakey white face paint to your face. You don't want the makeup to be too thick or too stark. Remember, you're trying to be a geisha, not a clown or a mime. Try using an ivory foundation and then covering it with a white powder. This should help moderate the color. Your foundation should extend over your eyebrows. You will need to draw new, thin, dark eyebrows above your existing eyebrows. The foundation should also go over your lips. This will help your lipstick last longer.
When you're finished applying the foundation, wait for it to dry and then put red blush on your cheeks. You want your checks to look full. To achieve this look, apply the blush to the round part of your check rather than lightly brushing it over your check bones.
The eye makeup needs to include outlining your entire eye with thick eyeliner. Next, apply dark eye shadow from your eye up to your eyebrow line. You need to put at least three coats of mascara on your eyelashes. When you're finished with this, apply a dark red lipstick to your lips and viola! You're geisha makeup has turned your into the real thing!

This section on Teen Beauty is probably one of my most favorite parts of this entire website. When I was young I didn?t know that I was okay the way I was. I would always look at someone else and see something special about them, but I never saw it in myself. I used to spend all of my allowance money on fashion and beauty magazines, which always praised white girls for being pretty. Because of that, I spent almost all of my teenage years wanting to look like fashion models that were of a completely different race or culture.
Now that I am older and much happier with myself, I realize that you may be dealing with similar issues as well, and that?s why it is important that I create this section. Here you will begin to feel more comfortable about makeup because the information is straightforward, simple, and none of your questions will ever be considered ?stupid?. You will get a chance to find out the easiest ways to apply eyeshadow and blush, and what look suits you best for prom. At your age, makeup should be as simple and fun as possible, so I?m going to make it that way while helping you develop your own personal teen beauty style.
Looking back on my teenage years, I wish I would have realized that with time I would learn to accept myself for who I am. When you grow comfortable with yourself, flaws and all, then your unique beauty will shine through, and that is what attracts people. Have you ever seen a beautiful girl with a nasty personality?
