The Ruby Makeup Academy Donates Scholarship to Women Empowered

Ruby Makeup AcademyAt a young age every little girl is asked what she wants to be when she grows up. Most answer movie star, ballerina or singer. As these young girls become young women, their answers change to doctor, journalist, lawyer, fashion designer or maybe even perhaps, makeup artist. In the spirit of empowering young women, Ruby Polanco of the Ruby Makeup Academy is donating a Makeup Artistry Course valued at $2,600.00 to a raffle sponsored by the collaborating bodies of Women Empowered and Central Juvenile Hall entitled Dress for Success. This event will be held at Central Juvenile Hall, 1605 Eastlake Avenue Los Angeles, CA 90033 on August 6, 2011.

The purpose of Dress for Success is to motivate young woman by providing workshops that will prepare them for professional work environments. Polanco had this to say about the event, “I believe that these young women deserve and need a helping hand in getting their lives back on track, I have been through trials in my life and know that mentors are important in shaping and changing an individual.”

Women Empowered (”WE”) is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization comprised of professional women based in Los Angeles, California and surrounding areas. “WE” was founded in November 2008 and initially began as a means to connect and befriend other women.

The Ruby Make-Up Academy campuses in Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties are opening their doors to new students for the summer session. With three locations in Temple City, Upland and Ontario, The Ruby Make-Up Academy provides training and certification for persons interested in a career in make-up artistry for TV, Film, and Theater. The Ruby Make-Up Academy trains students in the art of make-up for personal, bridal, special occasion, beauty, fashion, character, and special effects.
